MRI Technology
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one of the safest, most advanced forms of medical imaging technology available. A number of Nobel Peace Prizes have been awarded for the advancements discovered during the development of MRI technology.
Equipment
Ottawa Valley MRI is equipped with General Electrics most advanced 1.5 Tesla MRI systems the HDxt 1.5 Tesla MRI.
A wide selection of advanced body coils providing significantly higher resolution in less time and spectacular images of virtually every body part. Our new HDxt 1.5 MRI system is the most advanced private MRI system in the Eastern Ontario and West Quebec. It is of equal strength and technical ability as you will find in many of our local hospitals.
The imaging produced by this technology is so detailed it is like being right inside the body.
MRI Exam
An MRI is painless, and the magnetic fields produce no known tissue damage of any kind. The MRI scanner will make loud pulsating and knocking noises at times during the exam. Patients therefore will be provided with ear plugs for their exam. Patients can communicate with our MRI technologist throughout the exam through a microphone in the MRI machine.
It is important to note that MRI exams are detailed exams for a specific part of the body. MRI exams are recommended to help provide a diagnosis for specific clinical indications and are not designed to provide whole body scans.
