The Process

Depending on what area of the body is being scanned, the process can take from 30 to 45 minutes.
Patients can change into a gown for the examination and can do so in a comfortable and privately assigned change room.

The patient is asked to lie still on a table-like surface that passes through an opening shaped like a donut. During the procedure, the patient will hear the machine knocking as it scans the body and may opt to wear earplugs or listen to music.

In certain instances, a contrast agent may be injected into the arm to enhance the diagnostic image. If this is required, you will be advised of this prior to the injection.

Once the scan is complete the patient is free to leave.

The results are sent directly from the radiologist to the referring physician.
